Introduction
Portland, 2046

At the same time, soaring housing costs are pushing many others toward the edge.
We know that housing is the one and only way to end someone’s homelessness. We also know that housing people can afford is critical to long-term stability and thriving communities. There is no one policy that will address this problem on a meaningful level. That’s why we need the full creativity and compassion of our community to tackle this together, from multiple directions.
Humans for Housing
Portland, 2046
Humans for Housing was founded with a mission to create change through compassionate storytelling about the homelessness crisis. In 2025, we released our first documentary No Place to Grow Old, telling the stories of Portlanders aging into homelessness. No Place to Grow Old has now screened over 200 times across the United States.

In early 2026, we launched an in-person exhibit in the heart of Portland's Old Town neighborhood, to bring the community closer to the data, stories, and solutions around housing. We hosted over 40 community conversations at the exhibit, bringing together policymakers, neighbors, and advocates like you.

What we heard over and over again is that people in our community are really struggling, and we need more housing people can afford.
